The Vision
Rio Blanco County is more than just a place on a map; it’s our heritage. My vision for this office is simple: Experienced leadership that listens. Whether it’s protecting our water rights in Denver or managing our county budget here at home, I am dedicated to ensuring that Meeker and Rangely remain strong, independent, and prosperous for generations to come.
Rooted in Rio Blanco
I am a 3rd-generation resident of Rio Blanco County. I’ve raised my family here, built a business here, and spent my life walking the same dirt as my neighbors.
One of the biggest questions a candidate faces is: "Will you have the time to do the job?" Because the family business is now in the capable hands of the next generation—my son, Charlie—I am in a unique position to dedicate 100% of my time and energy to the office of County Commissioner. I’m not just looking for a title; I’m looking to go to work for you full-time.
22 Years of Preparation
I believe you don’t just "jump in" to a Commissioner seat and hope to learn on the fly. The stakes for our county—especially regarding our land use and water—are too high for a learning curve.
Over the last two decades, I have intentionally served on the boards and committees that serve as the "gears" of our county. I have spent 22 years studying:
County Budgets & Personnel: Understanding how to keep us fiscally sound.
Land Use Codes & Master Plans: Protecting the rights of our landowners.
The Art of Mediation: Bringing people together to find common-sense solutions.
A Champion for Our Water
Water is the lifeblood of Rio Blanco County. My work on the PAC (Planning and Advisory Committee) has been focused on the technical and legal realities of our water supply, from monitoring river return flows to studying aquifer storage and recovery.
I regularly travel to the State Capitol in Denver to fight against rising costs for rural water wells. I understand that protecting our water isn't just about the environment; it's about protecting our property values, our ranches, and our way of life.
Beyond the Boardroom
When I’m not in a meeting or working on water policy, you’ll find me spending time with family. I believe in a Rio Blanco County where neighbors help neighbors and where your Commissioner is accessible, transparent, and rooted in the community.
